Raising for Fun while Fundraising
Welcome to the MS Poker Web Page. First of all I want to say thank you to all of the sponsors, volunteers, and especially the participants who have made the previous MS Poker tournaments successful. With your help, we've donated over $14,000 to the National MS Society over the past four years!! Your continued generous support gives my family hope that our efforts will eventually lead to a cure to this horrible disease.
The 2008 MS Poker Invitational Results:
The weather was rainy, but it was a perfect day for the MS Poker Invitational, and a great day for the National MS Society as we raised over $2000!!!. Thank you so much to all the great participants, sponsors, and volunteers that helped make this fundraiser another fantastic success.
A special thanks to our dealers: Laurie, Angelica, and Becky. Thank you to Dave and Ranji for running around and picking up the food. And as usual, a huge thank you to our food and prize sponsors:
The tournament was a lot of fun, and there were chips flying all over the place as nobody wanted to leave early, so there were lots of rebuys and big stacks on the tables. We all had a fun time through the first two hours, but after the first food break, the action heated up, and the biggest smiles were on the dealers and the big stacks.
There were a couple of quick exits, but then we settled in. After another 2 hours of play, we still had two tables of players and some big chip swings. All of the remaining players took another break for some great food, and then settled down to fight for the championship.
It didn't take long to get to the final table, and with no returning champions, we knew that we would be adding a new name to the hall of champions. I was disappointed that I didn't make a return trip to the final table (but I guess I couldn't get lucky two years in a row...where did I put that four leaf clover?)
We added antes for the first time in a MS Poker event, and that helped fuel the action at the final table. Although people continued to play solid poker. It would take 6 hours (from the start), but we finally had a look at our prize winning final three players, John, Bill, and Marty.
John was the only player with MS Poker Final Table experience, and he traded huge stacks back and forth with Marty and Bill, but ultimately yielded into third place. It only took Bill and Marty two more hands to get their chips ALL-IN. Congratulations to our top three finishers and newest addition to the Hall of Champions:
Congratulations to the 2008 MS Poker Invitational Champion: Bill Flanigan
