Cool Windows Tricks

Do you have a backup that runs nightly? or do you want to make sure youir PC is on at 3am, when Windows Update automatically downloads and installs updates for your sytstem?  This cool trick will allow you to prevent other users from shutting down your Windows XP system:

1. Launch the Registry Editor (Regedit.exe).
2. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer.
3. Right-click the Explorer subkey and select New | DWORD Value.
4. Name the key NoClose and press [Enter] twice.
5. Type 1 in the Value Data text box and click OK.

Exit your registry and restart Windows.  The next time you boot up, users will not be able to shut down the PC by clicking the Shut Down button from the Start Menu.

Now, when YOU really want to shut down the PC, just access the Task Manager by pressing [Ctrl][Alt][Del], then pull down the Shut Down Menu and select the Turn Off command.
